Recovery of a felt roof in Maidstone with Sealoflex Fibreseal

The Flat Roof Recovery Company’s latest job was a domestic flat roof repair project close to home, just down the road in Maidstone, Kent. We were asked to repair a mineral felt covered flat roof which was in a very bad condition and was badly in need of some attention.

The original felt roof was overlayed with the rubber based, single component waterproofing system, Sealoflex Fibreseal. Fibreseal has polyester fibres borne in the rubber compound which, once cured, will form a seamless rubber membrane across the roof’s surface that is not only incredibly durable, but also looks great. From the pictures below you can see what a vast improvement the newly recovered roof is.

Solar gain on older flat roof coverings is well documented problem. Solar gain is the heating effect of by solar radiation on the flat roof surface. This heating effect will, in time, cause the surface, an asphalt flat roof for example, to deteriorate and slump causing cracks and fissures which will inevitably lead to water ingress. Modern roof coverings can help to minimize solar gain and significantly increase the integrity of roof surface, maximizing durability and increasing the life.

Below are some pictures of a recent Flat Roof Recovery domestic roofing project for a house in Chelsea, West London. We were asked to recover an asphalt roof that was badly in need of repair. We overlayed the existing asphalt roof using the Sealoflex system and finished in white to help to reflect the heat and uv rays which cause solar gain significantly extending the potential life of the roof.

Commercial Balcony Waterproofing in Brighton

In July of 2009 Flat Roof Recovery was asked by a major international finance company to quote for a job that they wanted carrying out at their prestigious European headquarters in Brighton, East Sussex. This commercial roofing job was amongst one of the biggest balcony waterproofing repair and recovery jobs that we had ever carried out and the logistics of covering such a space were pretty taxing! The job was for to waterproof a balcony that was over 1000 m2, a job that we completed during the month of July 2009 using the Sealofex liquid waterproofing system. In the end this job turned out to be an incredibly rewarding challenge that tested our roofing skills. A job of this size is a rare challenge and a bit different to our usual bread and butter domestic flat roofing jobs.
